Bio
Dr. Liliana R. Tarba is a Registered Clinical Psychologist in Ontario, Canada. She earned her MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University, Toronto.
Born and educated in Romania, Dr. Tarba was initially trained in psychodynamic theory and practice. Through her graduate training in Canada, she received extensive theoretical and clinical training in humanistic and emotion-focused therapies (EFT). Over the past ten years, she provided psychodiagnostic and psyho-educational assessment, as well as psychotherapy for adults in hospitals, university counselling centers (e.g., York University and University of Toronto), and disability/accessibility centers.
Dr. Tarba has a special interest in psychotherapy process research and is the recipient of numerous scholarly awards, including the Scholars Award of Division 39 of APA. She studied intensively the role of adaptive emotional expression, particularly anger, in resolving depression due to interpersonal injuries. She co-authored “Supervision Essentials for Emotion-Focused Therapy” with Dr. Leslie Greenberg, recently published by the APA press. This book speaks to some of her theoretical interests, providing an in-depth exploration of the process of training and supervision for future therapists.
At present, Dr. Tarba is a private practitioner at Introspect Psychology in Toronto (www.introspectpsychology.ca), where she provides psychotherapy and assessments for adults struggling within maladaptive relational dynamics and repetitions, attachment problems and ruptures, complex childhood trauma, as well as various other traumatic experiences (oppression, hardship, poverty, etc.).
