Registered Clinical Psychologist
Bio
Dr. Liliana R. Tarba holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University, Toronto and she is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Dr. Tarba received her Bachelor of Arts at West University in Timisoara, Romania, where she was primarily trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Through her graduate training she received extensive theoretical and clinical training in humanistic and emotion-focused therapies (EFT). Over the past ten years, she provided psychodiagnostic and psyho-educational assessment, as well as psychotherapy for adults in hospitals, university counselling centers (e.g., York University and University of Toronto), and disability/accessibility centers.
Dr. Tarba has a special interest in psychotherapy process research and is the recipient of numerous scholarly awards, last of which was received from the Div. 39 of the American Psychological Association in April 2015. She studied intensively the role of adaptively and appropriately expressing emotions, particularly anger, in resolving depression due to interpersonal injuries. She co-authored “Supervision Essentials for Emotion-Focused Therapy” with Dr. Leslie Greenberg, recently published by the APA press. This book speaks to some of her theoretical interests, providing an in-depth exploration of the process of training and supervision for future therapists.
At present, Dr. Tarba owns and works at Introspect Psychology (www.introspectpsychology.ca), a private practice providing psychological and psycho-educational assessments for adults, psychotherapy and professional consultation. She offers services to adult clients with various difficulties, including mood, anxiety, adjustment and trauma-related difficulties, dissociative symptoms, life-long and problematic interpersonal, emotional and cognitive difficulties, as well as those specific to life-stages and changes, such as illness, death and existential unrest.
